Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna, managed to do wonders at the box office. Despite mixed to negative reviews, the film showed little growth on Saturday, taking the Hindi version’s collections to around ₹37 million. Brahmastra is being hailed for its visual effects and performances, but it doesn’t boast of a very strong script or tight editing. The appearances of Shah Rukh Khan and some other big names are also being talked about.
According to a report by Boxofficeindia.com, the Hindi version’s two-day collections are around ₹68 crore nett (with ₹37 crore on Saturday), while collections for all formats are around 76 crore nett. It is said to have done about ₹3.5-4 crore nett in other languages on Saturday.
The portal also reports that Brahmastra recorded historic numbers abroad, especially in the US and Canada, as it surpassed the US$ 3 million mark on the first day, including paid views. A fundraiser of around $9 million to $10 million is expected over the weekend.
On Friday, Karan Johar reported on Instagram that the film had made ₹75 crore gross worldwide on opening day. He wrote: “Humble…Thankful…but I still can’t control my excitement!”
On her Instagram, Alia Bhatt also shared a post from director Ayan Mukerji, thanking everyone who watched the film. Ayan’s post read: “Gratitude, emotion, hope! A big thank you to everyone, everywhere, who went to theaters to experience Brahmastra, keeping our film culture vibrant and dynamic. Looking forward to the next few days.”
Anil Kapoor also congratulated Alia and Ranbir on the film’s success in the post’s comments section.
