Previously, Shalini Talwar had filed a lawsuit, alleging that she was subjected to physical, verbal and mental abuse. She reportedly asked for compensation of Rs 20 crore. Shalini also alleged financial fraud against Honey Singh.
Reacting to the allegations, Honey Singh said in a statement: “I am deeply hurt and distressed by the false and malicious allegations made against me and my family by my partner/wife of 20 years, Ms. Shalini Talwar. The accusations are severely hateful. I have never issued a public statement or press release in the past, despite having been subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation about my health and negative media coverage in general. However, I see no merit in keeping a studied silence this time because some of the allegations were directed at my family – my old parents and younger sister – who have been by my side through some very difficult and difficult times and make up my world. The allegations are cynical and defamatory in nature. I have been associated with the industry for over 15 years and have worked with artists and musicians across the country. Everyone is aware of my relationship with my wife, who has been an integral part of my team for over a decade and has always accompanied me on filming, events and meetings. I vehemently refute all allegations but will not comment further because the matter is sub judice before the Court of Justice. I have full faith in this country’s judicial system and am confident that the truth will be revealed soon.”
