“Honestly, (when) I got married (2018), we wanted to wait two years and then the pandemic (Covid-19) happened. Then I heard a lot of stories from my friends, who went through a very difficult time during the pandemic, going to hospitals, having their parents with them. In India, we are used to a support system of our mothers, in-laws and everything else. You want your mother around. You want your partner around and come to the hospital, all that stuff. So Anand and I decided… We were planning for 2020. So we were in Delhi at the beginning of the pandemic at his parents’ house and at that point we decided to just wait because we didn’t know what Covid-19 was at that point. We don’t understand and we think, let’s wait,” Sonam said.
Sonam also shared that after her doctors gave her the go-ahead, she and Anand tried for a baby and she found out about her pregnancy at Christmas last year. Sonam said, “So we wait and wait and wait; and this pandemic didn’t seem to be going anywhere. Then I remember that in June (2021), it was my birthday and I said to my husband: ‘I think it’s time, I don’t think we can wait any longer’. I’ve had all my checkups with some doctors, in India and London, and they said you’re fine. You have something called AMH that women have, so it’s okay, it’s okay, so try… We went ahead, and in December we were pregnant, and then I had to start taking progesterone shots because of my age. ”
