Pure Communism Definition

Pure communism can be described as an economic as well as a political and social system in which most of all assets and properties are owned collectively by a class-free society rather than individuals. Based on the theory created by Marx, the German economist, philosopher and theorist of politicsĀ Karl Marx, pure communism leads to a society where everyone is equal and the need to earn money is eliminated nor the accumulation of wealth by individuals. There is no individual ownership of the economic resources as a central state is in charge of all aspects of production.

socialism vs communism

The economic output is distributed following the demands of the people. The social friction between blue and white-collar workers and between urban and rural cultural traditions is eliminated, allowing everyone to reach the highest level of human potential.

In communism, pure and simple, the central government supplies citizens with the basic necessities, like housing, food, education, and medical services, which allows all citizens to benefit from those benefits that come from collective work. Access to these essentials is dependent on the constant advancement of technology that contribute to an ever-increasing amount of production.

In 1875, Marx invented the expression to describe communism “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

The Communist Manifesto

The concept of modern communism was born in the French Revolution fought between 1789 between 1789 and 1802. The year 1848 was the time that Marx as well as Friedrich Engels released their influential theory ” Communist Manifesto.” Instead of the Christian influence of earlier communist ideologies, Marx and Engels argued that modern communism needed an essentially scientific and materialistic study of the past and future of the human race. “The history of all hitherto existing society,” they wrote, “is the history of class struggles.”

The Communist Manifesto depicts the French Revolution as the time in which”the “bourgeoisie,” or merchant class, took control of French’s financial “means of production” and took over the feudal power structure, opening the way to Capitalism. As per Marx and Engels, they believed the French Revolution replaced the medieval class struggle between nobility and serfs of the peasant with the current battle between the capitalists of the bourgeois class and the workers “proletariat.”

Pure Socialism Definition

Pure socialism is a system of economics in which every person – through an elected democratically elected government- is granted an equal share of four economic factors: entrepreneurship, labor capital goods, and natural resources. Socialism, as a concept, comes from the notion that everyone naturally wants to collaborate. However, they are impeded from doing so due to the nature of Capitalism’s competitiveness.

Socialism is a system of economics that allows everyone to equally is the owner of the elements of production. The ownership is obtained by a democratically elected government. It can include a cooperative, or a public corporation where everyone shares in the. In an a control economy, the socialist government uses central planning to distribute resources according to the requirements of individuals as well as the needs of society as a whole. The distribution of economic output is based on the individual’s capabilities and contribution.

Communism and Socialism in the United States

Communism has not gained any traction throughout the United States, although the Communist Party USA, founded in 1919, has been able to run candidates for public office for many years. 10 As a result of the post-World WWII Red Scare in the U.S., Congress passed legislation prohibiting members of the Communist Party in 1954. However, a lot of the law was later removed, and the Communist Party is still in existence. 11

Socialism has had better Luck, but also has its moments of ups and downs. Many social democrats were elected as mayors, and a few were elected to the ranks of Congress. 12 Eugene V. Debs, who was the socialist’s presidential candidate during five presidential elections (1900 1904, 1904, 1908 and 1912) was able to secure close to one million votes in his final attempt. 13 More recently, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is a self-described Democratic socialist was an ardent candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 2016 and 2020.

For several decades, the words socialist and communist have been employed throughout the U.S. to attack political oppositions who are usually neither. Similar to that, many initiatives and legislations of the federal government have been labelled communist or socialist by those who are opposed to them for reasons of a different kind. Both of these traditions endure until today.

Who Were the First Socialists?

One of the more well-known social democrats of the past are Robert Owen and Henri de Saint-Simon. Owen was a Welsh manufacturer who lived during both the 18th and 19th centuries and was a prominent advocate for socialism that was utopian. Owen actively participated in community-based experiments on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Saint-Simon’s life, which traversed in the late 18th and 19th century, was born to a poverty-stricken wealthy French family. He was a social theorist and was among the pioneers of Christian socialism in the mid-19th century, a movement comprised of Christian activists who wanted to develop social programs that addressed the poverty faced by the poor.

Communism Vs. Socialism

In both socialism and communism in both, the population owns the elements of economic production. The main difference is that under communism, most property and economic resources are owned and controlled by the state (rather than individual citizens); under socialism, all citizens share equally in economic resources as allocated by a democratically-elected government. This distinction and other differences are detailed on the following table.
